BECKER TRAFFIC ASSIST 7827: TEN QUESTIONS

nummer1_1.jpgThe portable navigation unit won't switch on. What should I do?

Check to make sure the On/Off switch is set to "On".
If the unit still won't switch on, it's probably because there isn't enough battery power. Use the 12V cigarette lighter cable, adapter plug or USB cable to connect the unit to an external power source.
If the unit still doesn't switch on, contact the Becker customer service centre or an authorised Becker dealer.
nummer2_1.jpgWhen was the map data for the Becker Traffic Assist 7827 created?

The map data provided by the company NAVTEQ for the Becker Traffic Assist 7827 was revised in Q4/2006. Annual updates are planned and can be obtained directly from NAVTEQ.
nummer3_1.jpgIs it possible to improve the quality of the satellite reception?

Satellite reception may be impaired in vehicles with tinted windows and/or heating wires imbedded in the glass. To improve reception quality, we recommend a Becker external GPS antenna.

nummer4_1.jpgWhy doesn't the touch screen react properly when I press my finger on the display?

Select "Settings" from the main menu and then "Calibration". Now simply follow the instructions on the display to recalibrate the touch-screen.
nummer5_1.jpgI would like to save more data to the SD card. Can I use a higher capacity memory card, e.g. with 4 GB?

The Becker Traffic Assist 7827 is supplied with a 2-GB SD card. The card reader is designed for SD cards up to 2 GB. The unit has not been tested with higher capacity cards. Therefore, there is no guarantee that it will operate properly when a different SD card is inserted.
nummer6.jpgHow can I save a point on the map?

Select the point you want to save on the map and keep your finger pressed on it for five seconds. A red ring will appear followed by the address. After you select "Save" from the menu, you can enter a personal address that can be saved to the destination memory.
nummer7.jpgAfter I switch on the unit, it takes a long time to receive a GPS signal. Is there any way to speed up the signal search?

The Becker Traffic Assist 7827 has both a Standby switch and an On/Off switch.
If the unit is activated from the Standby mode, a GPS signal is detected almost immediately and the route is quickly calculated.
If the unit has been shut off using the On/Off switch, the data and user settings must be reloaded when it is switched on again. In this case, it will take a few moments to establish a connection with the GPS satellite.
Recommendation: Only shut off the unit using the On/Off switch when your are not planning to use it for at least a week.
nummer8.jpgWhy is it not possible to transfer radar warning information to my portable navigation system?

The use of radar detectors is prohibited in many countries. Motorists who violate these regulations are subject to monetary fines and other disciplinary actions.
The Speed Limit function can be used to display maximum permissible speeds and speed limits related to weather conditions.

nummer9.jpgHow can I save my current position?

To save your current position, open the rapid access menu in the map display and press "Options". The submenu "GPS-Status" shows GPS data and/or address. Using the "Save Position" button, you can save this information in the destination memory.
This makes it easier to find remote places without an exact address.
