What does the Travel Assistant feature do?
The Travel Assistant is a helpful feature with which you can find international calling codes, as well as convert and compare measurements and clothing sizes between different systems of measurement and countries.
Why won’t my navigation unit switch on?
Most likely because the navigation unit’s battery is not sufficiently charged or because it has been reverse charged. Connect the unit to an external power source (using the cigarette lighter cable, the AC power adapter or the USB cable) and charge it for at least 30 minutes before reattempting to switch it on. Once sufficiently charged, hold down the Becker Button for approximately 10 seconds to switch it on.
If the unit still cannot be switched on, please contact our Customer Service department or your Becker dealer.
Why aren’t the map data or navigation instructions consistent with the actual road network?
The Becker Traffic Assist Z 100 Crocodile is equipped with NAVTEQ map data that was current in Q2/2008
.
The displayed map data reflect the state of the data base at the time of its acquisition. In the course of a year, however, road networks are subject to changes and modifications to the degree of between 10 and 15 per cent. It is therefore possible that the map data stored in your navigation system will not always be consistent with the actual road network.
In order to keep your navigation system current at all times, we recommend that you download map updates from NAVTEQ on a regular basis.
If, however, you experience such inconsistencies with the latest map data installed, please report them either to Customer Service on our website or directly to NAVTEQ Map Reporter.

Where can I find the instruction manual for my Becker Traffic Assist Z 100 Crocodile?
All necessary information regarding the set-up and operation of your navigation unit is contained in the Quick Operation Guide included in the product package.
For reasons of environmental conservation, we decided against printing a comprehensive instruction manual. If you require more detailed information, you will find it in the complete Operation Guide contained on the DVD included in the product package. This digital manual may also be downloaded at:

What is my navigation unit’s battery life?
Battery life depends on the type of navigation unit, the battery’s age and how the unit is used. While it is in navigation mode, your navigation system’s electricity consumption is at its highest, and therefore its battery life is at its shortest. The battery’s full capacity is only reached after several power charges and discharges.
If you are using the unit in a vehicle, you should plug it into the cigarette lighter with the provided charging cable. The battery will thus be simultaneously charged while in use, ensuring uninterrupted operation.
When I switch on the navigation unit, it requires a very long time to start receiving a GPS signal. Can this signal search be accelerated?
For optimum GPS reception, the navigation unit must be under an open sky.
If you are operating the unit for the first time or if it has been completely switched off, the unit must first load all necessary data and settings, thereby lengthening the period of time the unit requires to establish a satellite connection.
Upon starting route guidance, a notification window will appear if the required number of satellites (at least four) is not yet available. As soon as a GPS signal is received, the notification window will disappear and route guidance will automatically begin.
In order to assure unhindered GPS reception from within vehicles with treated glass surfaces, we recommend using an external GPS antenna.
We also recommend that, after using the navigation unit, you put it in standby mode by pressing the Becker Button, and that you only switch it off completely if it will not be used again for at least several days.
What does the Lane Info function do?
Lane Info helps you get into the correct lane ahead of time for upcoming navigational manoeuvres.
When travelling on multi-lane roads and navigating complicated motorway exits, the correct course is indicated with red arrows in addition to the voice navigation instructions, affording you sufficient time to reach the correct lane.
Why can’t I run photo radar warning software on my navigation unit?
There are software providers in the marketplace offering photo radar warning software specific to certain navigation units. Becker offers no guarantee that such third-party software will function correctly on its navigation systems. Changes to the unit’s system software resulting from the installation of third-party software may in some circumstances render the manufacturer’s guarantee null and void.
Please note: The installation and use of speed camera data bases is illegal in certain European countries (including Germany, Austria and Switzerland). Please inform yourself of applicable laws and eventual legal consequences for the country in which you wish to use such software before you install it. Becker assumes no liability for the lawfulness of installing or using such software, nor for the accuracy or integrity of its data.

Is it possible to plan routes on a PC using the Content Manager?
Planning routes directly on a PC using the Content Manager is not currently possible.
With the Content Manager, you can back up data on your navigation unit. (After setting up the unit, we recommend that you save a back-up to your PC.) This allows you to restore the backed up data whenever necessary, and to transfer new data (map material, additional voices, etc.) from your PC to the unit.
Further functionality of the Content Manager is currently being developed.

Why aren’t landscapes displayed in 3D as described in the flyer?
3D Terrain View offers a three-dimensional display of the surrounding landscape along the route, such as mountains and valleys. Only real and significant topographical features are displayed.
Whenever an adequate degree of variance in elevation is present, 3D Terrain View is activated and surroundings are displayed accordingly. Minimal degrees of variance in elevation, however, are not represented.
Why are the flat roofs of buildings displayed in black in 3D display mode?
The correct appearance of buildings is dependent upon the selected zoom level.
The higher the zoom level, the greater the degree of calculation required by the navigation unit.
In order for buildings to be optimally displayed, the zoom level must be reduced. To do this, press the minus symbol on the right side of the map display until the 3D appearance of buildings is correct.
